About Me

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

I'M Zachary Traxler

Hey there, thanks for poppin' in! I will try to make it quick :)

I'm happy you have the time to browse my photography and hope it brings you joy, happiness, incites good memories, and more.

Since a very young age I have been interested in photography. For me, first it was the science - not the art. I wanted to know how a camera worked, film, the dark room, prints, - everything mechanical and chemical. Once I had a full understanding of both, I am also known as very creative - that is after all the path I've chosen in life. In the physical world but now of course, digital too.

I can say, I miss the smell and science of the darkroom. From developing the film, to making a contact sheet, and then on to the final selection and print development process - it's not as available as digital is today.

Fast forward to 2006 - "death of the darkroom", birth of Lightroom (the now, "digital darkroom"). I took a break from photography for a decade. Running my former businesses: Traxler Printing, Bruzer USA, and others. After COVID ravaged the world, I decided to close my businesses. My personal health suffered (for other reasons, we'll save that story for another platform) and suddenly I had freed a lot of time up... all of my time actually. Here I am, back at it almost full time and loving every moment. As you can see, I've captured parts of those moments and have them here to share with all. I now teach Graphic Design & Printing at my alma mater, Fort Hayes Career Center. Summers are with my kids, down on our family TSI tree farm (hardwood, not christmas trees, our farm won Kentucky Tree Farm of the Year 2022), or up in Port Clinton with my parents, and helping the community I have lived in for almost 20 years.

Feel free to reach out with any questions! I freelance both graphic design and photography, as a teacher, the additional income is alway welcome. 😉

Thanks again for coming by and have a blessed day.

My photography business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration

My inspiration is around me at all times. I try to carry my Nikon at all times, but when I don't have it handy - it makes a great excuse to come back later for another visit.

Techniques

I have enjoyed photography since my youth. Starting with B&W film, I pushed myself to get the "right" shot every time but the hard way - candid action shots. Digital has taken that away and pushed me into the world of macro photography.

career highlights

Trained in photography, I spent the last decade in the print industry. Now I am working to become a Graphic Design and Printing teacher within the Columbus City School system at Ft. Hayes MEC.
